How to get to the island of Ko Lanta

There are basically three ways to arrive in Koh Lanta : via Phuket, Krabi or Trang. From there it's a combination of land and sea travel to the village of Saladan, the northernmost and main arrival point of Koh Lanta.

Trang

The easiest way by far to get to Ko Lanta, is to arrive in Trang, either by plane or by train.
There are several overnight trains with comfortable sleepers arriving at the Trang railway station before noon.
Just across the street from the station is K.K.Travel, which have minibuses going straight to the island several times a day, the last trip leaving around 3 pm

Krabi

From Krabi there are two ways to get to the island : by minibus or express boat.
There are minibuses leaving several times daily , the last one around 4 pm, and any travel office in Krabi town will arrange one for you.
The twice-daily express ferry leaves from the main pier in Krabi town, but travels only in the season from Nov. till April  Boats leave 10.00 am and 13.30 pm.

Phuket

From Phuket catch any bus heading south to Krabi, Trang or Hatyai at the central bus station in Phuket town. Then get off in Krabi and continue by minibus or express ferry.
Alternatively you can get off about 50 km south of Krabi in a place called "Huay Nam Khao". From there take the turn-off to "Ban Hua Hin", where the car ferries to Lanta island leave from.
